Geological Passion & Expat Life in Mallorca

My journey with speleology began in the Yorkshire Dales in the United Kingdom, mapping limestone fissures and dry riverbeds. As a speleologis and travel writer, I moved to Mallorca six years ago to study the unique Miocene karst topography. The island's coastal chambers, formed by mix-zone dissolution (where fresh groundwater meets seawater), offer some of the most complex mineral clusters in Europe.

Over the years, I have collaborated with local scientific groups to study the conservation of restricted systems like Coves des Pas de Vallgornera. In doing so, I noticed a significant gap between commercial tourist marketing and the physical realities of cave travel. This website is a project I built to share honest, independent travel tips, helping visitors explore safely while respecting the delicate underground environments.

"Karst systems are silent, ancient structures that preserve the island's hydrological history. We must explore them with care and respect."
